Auto Death Rate Down, Auto Insurance Rates Up?

In July, the US Department of Transportation announced that 2008 auto deaths was the lowest number since 1961. Their reasons are increased use of seat belts, curtailing impaired drivers, improved highway safety and improved vehicle safety.

This is obviously good news and we hope to see these numbers continue to decline. Hopefully, we’ll see these number reflect in Washington Auto Insurance rates over the long run however, as you’ve probably noticed, rates don’t seem to go down often.

Your auto insurance rates are based on more than death rates. As you know, accidents and claims, even when there is not death, contribute to the cost of car insurance. Until these begin to decline, rates will continue to rise.

Naturally, you can do your thing by shopping rates and finding the company that has the best rates for you now. This is the only way for you to really control your Washington auto insurance rates.
