Getting Low Cost Washington Auto Insurance Quotes

Getting low cost Washington Auto Insurance Quotes is a lot easier than people think. However, if you do it the wrong way you can waste a lot of time shopping for car insurance instead of enjoying your life.

If you want, you can call several agents or insurance companies yourself. Each agent or insurance company will take between 10-15 minutes to gather all the necessary information to get you your auto insurance quotes. Now, you’ve spent about an hour calling around and have to review each of the quotes to make sure the coverage is correct. That’s going to take another 10-15 minutes assuming you know what you’re looking at.

Or, worse yet, you can fill out multiple forms online. Then you get the pleasure of searching for online quote forms on antique insurance agent websites. Then you’ll have agents calling you back, emailing you quotes, etc.

Once you have all that, then you get to call back and talk with the various people to start your policy. Again, this will take another 15-30 minutes depending on the skill of the agent. Most Washington insurance agents are pretty good out there but you can, and often do, run into people new to the business and learning the systems.

Fast Washington Car Insurance Quotes

If you want to save time, we recommend using an online quote company. These companies make the shopping experience a lot less painful and save you hours.

How they save you time shopping is by filling out one form on their website, they will send your information to about 5 local insurance agents. Each company varies but you can get anywhere from 3 to 8 quotes back from simply filling out 1 online form.

This is nice because, as you fill out the form, it takes all the information you fill out and sends the exact same information to each agent. Then, each agent has to shop and compete to get you the best Washington auto insurance quotes. You don’t have to worry if someone is quoting the wrong coverage or options because they should be sending you what you requested. Isn’t that nice?

There are many companies out there that will provide you low cost auto insurance quotes if you live in Seattle, Tacoma, Vancouver, Spokane or anywhere else in Washington (or anywhere in the country for that fact). There are some sponsors on our site here you can use if you like to make it easy.

What’s Collision And Comprehensive Coverage?

Many people wonder what’s the difference between collision and comprehensive coverage on your Washington auto insurance policy. They both cover your vehicles for physical damage so why are there two different coverages?Washington Auto Insurance

Collision coverage is what most people think about when they think about how their car insurance will cover their vehicle if there’s damage. Collision coverage only covers for damage to your vehicle from accidents. They could be accidents where you are at fault for the accident or another person is at fault for the accident and there is damage to your vehicle. The company will pay for damages to your vehicle minus your deductible.

Comprehensive coverage, as I like to tell people, covers damage to your vehicle for practically everything other than a collision. For example, if your car was vandalized, stolen, or damaged from an “act of God” like hail or a tree falling these would be covered under comprehensive coverage. Hitting an animal is considered an “act of God” under your personal auto policy, not a collision.

So, when determining your rates, car insurance companies take into account the type of claims you’ve experienced in your recent past. A comprehensive claim is considered outside of your control and generally won’t affect your rates. An at fault collision claim, depending upon the insurance company, could cause you to lose good driver discounts and incur additional surcharges.

When looking to shop rates for your Washington car insurance remember to accurately enter all prior claims (as well as you can remember). This will allow you to get the most accurate quotes based on your current situation. Hiding your past claims and violations won’t do you any good. Almost every company out there now will run in your claims and driving history records prior to binding your policy. And, if the company binds your policy without running your reports they will run them later and adjust your rates accordingly.

Since every insurance company treats claims and tickets in different ways, it’s important to make sure that you compare rates with multiple companies to ensure you get the best rate for your situation…especially when you have claims or violations. It’s very easy to compare rates online today. It only takes 3 to 5 minutes and you can get rates back from multiple companies to look over when you have time. You can start your rates here by entering your zip code in the box above.

Save Money On Auto Insurance When Shopping For Washington Teenage Drivers

I was reading 4 Tips To Keep Your Young Driver’s Car Insurance Rates Down, and thought these would be good to share on Washington Auto Insurance Quotes too.

The tips listed there were simple and straightforward. You may have heard them before and if not, they’re worth reading.

1. Good Grades for your young driver are very important for receiving sizeable discounts. Insurance companies love good students much more than those with average grades and they reward them with large discounts.

2. Drivers Education. Many companies will also offer discounts for young drivers that take drivers education. If you can get your child to take it, it could be worth it.

3. Raise Your Deductibles. Raising your deductible will lower your rates because you’re taking more of the risk. This is wise especially if you have very low deductibles since you won’t be reporting small claims anyhow.

4. Vehicle and Driver Assignment. Insurance companies assign drivers differently so it’s important to emphasize your young driver is will only be driving the beat up pickup as opposed to the brand new sports car.

5. Shop Around. Every company treats young drivers different. Shop around to find the best price available to you at this critical time of your life. How surprised would you be to find out you could be paying half of your current premium? How angry would you be with yourself to find out you could have done this last year and saved money for the last 12 months on your Washington Auto Insurance?

Auto Death Rate Down, Auto Insurance Rates Up?

In July, the US Department of Transportation announced that 2008 auto deaths was the lowest number since 1961. Their reasons are increased use of seat belts, curtailing impaired drivers, improved highway safety and improved vehicle safety.

This is obviously good news and we hope to see these numbers continue to decline. Hopefully, we’ll see these number reflect in Washington Auto Insurance rates over the long run however, as you’ve probably noticed, rates don’t seem to go down often.

Your auto insurance rates are based on more than death rates. As you know, accidents and claims, even when there is not death, contribute to the cost of car insurance. Until these begin to decline, rates will continue to rise.

Naturally, you can do your thing by shopping rates and finding the company that has the best rates for you now. This is the only way for you to really control your Washington auto insurance rates.

Washington Auto Insurance Minimum Requirements

The state of Washington requires you carry auto liability insurance on your vehicles. That is all. So, what does this cover and what are the minimum Washington Auto Insurance requirements? Save on Washington Auto Insurance Quotes

Washington requires you carry liability insurance in case you’re at-fault for an accident. This coverage will pay for the damages, up to the policy limits, to the person you injure and the property you damage when you’re at-fault for the accident and are held legally liable.

Washington state auto insurance laws currently require you carry:

  • $25,000 per person bodily injury liability
  • $50,000 per accident bodily injury liability
  • $10,000 property damage liability

So, what do those numbers mean?

The first $25,000 is how much your policy would pay if you injure someone in an accident. No one person would receive more than $25,000 from your policy.

The $50,000 per accident is the most the policy would pay for all people injured in an accident.

The $10,000 for property damage liability is for things you hit. So, if you hit a car, light pole, house, fence, etc. it would pay damages to repair the damaged property, not people.

While this coverage is the minimum required by law you can always purchase more. We do encourage you to do so when you can afford it as it will provide you better protection if you when you have an accident.

The state minimum required coverage will be your least expensive option but will also not give you coverage to repair your car or truck if it’s in an accident. If that doesn’t matter and you want the cheapest Washington auto insurance then you can choose this option.
